Brother Sewing Machines
Sewing wasn’t that new to me. On the other hand, purchasing a sewing machine was. As a newbie, I was spoiled for choice. There were so many brands in the market. Everyone suggested a different brand of sewing machine for beginners. As I kept researching, and reading up on sewing machines a pattern emerged. Brother sewing machines kept popping up almost everywhere.
I decided to give it a shot and truthfully, it was one of the best decision I’ve ever made. My Brother sewing machine helped me pave my path into sewing. It was durable, reliable and affordable. Sadly I did outgrow it eventually but nevertheless, my experience using my Brother sewing machine was a joy. I then started trying out other models of sewing machines from Brother and here are a few of them which I felt stood out the most.
Brother Sewing Machine Reviews
I absolutely love the precision and accuracy the CS6000i has. Aside from being the top seller on Amazon, this computerized sewing machine is nothing short of being amazing. The CS6000i is not the most portable sewing machine but for the functions and the number of built in stitches it has, I could overlook the slight inconvenience of having a heavier sewing machine.
The CS6000i would also be an amazing sewing machine for commercial use too. The error notifications would indeed save you from any unwanted errors if you have set up the sewing machine wrongly. Thanks to this feature, it’ll be near impossible to damage the fabric you’re going to be sewing on.
Finally, this sewing machine can be used for quilting too. I usually use large fabrics when I quilt. Thankfully, using the large extension table the CS6000i made quilting less of a pain and brought out the fun in it. I didn’t have to keep turning and tilting the fabric to get the stitches right. On the contrary, thanks to the large base, the fabric that I used was held in place perfectly. Read my full review for this best sewing machine for quilting here.
The SE400 is the best sewing machine for embroidery I’ve ever used. Aside from being the top seller on amazon in the embroidery machines category, I honestly feel for someone who wants the best of both worlds, the SE400 really takes the cake. Not only does the SE400 produce beautiful stitches, emblems and monograms, the SE400 works exceptionally as a conventional sewing machine.
The SE400 has 67 different built in stitches and has a real futuristic feel thanks to the LCD display and USB connection port. Thanks to this, you may transfer designs from your computer direct to the SE400 to be embroidered on any piece of fabric of your choosing. The machine also comes with a 25 year warranty and Brother promises future updates for the machine that will be launched periodically to ensure the SE400 lasts you for a long long time. The XL-2600i is a good alternative to consider if you’re in pursuit of a user friendly sewing machine that is perfect for a beginner to stretch their wings on. Other than being durable and easy to use, the XL-2600i really brings out the joy of sewing. As a beginner I always felt threading the needle to be a real pain. I am so thankful others wouldn’t have to go through the same thing. The automatic needle threader on the XL-2600i makes threading the needle a breeze
Nothing is perfect, the XL-2600i performed poorly when I used it on thicker fabrics. The simplest way to put this is that this sewing machine would only be suitable for those who plan to use it as training wheels. By no means can the XL-2600i handle fabrics as thick as denim.
So if you’re looking for a sewing machine that will be able to handle all types of fabrics you should check out the CS6000i. On the contrary, if all you want in a sewing machine is for it to be able to perform occasional patch work or some minor sewing projects and you’re a beginner the XL-2600i would surely serve you well until you are ready for a full-fledged more powerful sewing machine. Once I started using my Brother CS6000I, quilting was never the same again. The features that the CS6000I came with made quilting even more fun and easy to do. This sewing machine has much to offer and is the best sewing machine for quilting non-commercially. The Brother CS6000I is also the #1 best selling sewing machine on Amazon.com.
2 For The Price Of 1
Quilting is something that is unique, some people love it and others hate it. With the Brother CS6000I however, this quilting machine doubles up as an excellent sewing machine. I for one loved it and thanks to these features and the inexpensive price, if you buy this machine then get bored of quilting, you lose nothing because it’s still an awesome sewing machine.
The king of quilting machines surely had to earn its title. I was amazed by the features that was included in this machine. The quilting table the Brother CS6000I came with was large enough for all the quilts I knitted.
The foot control and the adjustable speed settings also make quilting a breeze. All I had to do was position the needle then let the machine do the work. Preparing the machine for quilting took little to no time at all. Brother added a jam-resistant top drop in bobbin that also avoided the hassle of having to manually looking for the thread of a stuck bobbin.
The one step automatic buttonholer had seven styles that you could choose from. This would mean you’d even be able to select different styles for how you sew your buttonholes. To top all of these features off, the 25 year limited warranty does really impress me. I’d surely be investing in a worthy sewing machine if the manufacturers would be able to cover the Brother CS6000I for 25 years.
Portable Sewing Machine
While reading up on the descriptions and features of the machine before I ordered it from Amazon, I was truly impressed and was prepared for a much heavier piece of machinery. I think you’d be able to carry the Brother CS6000I around almost everywhere and it could surely double up as a portable sewing machine. All you’d need would be to get a bag or case for your sewing machine and you’ll be able to carry it everywhere. Which is a plus point if you attend sewing classes.
The smooth sewing experience and the precise quilting abilities the Brother CS6000I has would surely be awesome reasons to purchase the sewing machine. Follow this link where you can find more feedback by other customers who love the Brother CS6000I as much as I do.

I was browsing online looking for a sewing machine for my daughter when I came across the Brother XL2600I. It was affordable and simplistic enough for anyone to learn to use. My daughter loves her doll and I felt using this sewing machine (under my guidance) she’d be able to make luxurious gowns or trendy two-piece dresses.
Made for Crafts and Mini-Projects
I was looking to find a sewing machine that was capable of handling crafts and minor sewing projects and the Brother XL2600I does just that. The XL2600I has 59 stitch functions, 25 built in stitches and a buttonholer that is excellent for crafts. While great for all types of basic sewing, this sewing machine does not come with quilting and embroidery features.
Friend of the Thin, Foe of the Thick
I was amazed with how this sewing machine work well for patch jobs too. The one step button holder feature that the machine has also makes it extremely easy to make button holes in the garments you wish to create. I only plan to let my daughter sew on light and less fibrous fabric so the needle on the machine wouldn’t require much force to penetrate the fabric.
Bear in mind that this sewing machine isn’t that expensive and it does not come with a foot presser so it’ll be a lot harder for this machine to be used on thick fabric. I nevertheless experimented on a piece of leftover denim fabric and found that the needle barely pierced through. So girls, skip this sewing machine if you plan to work with any type of fabric that is much thicker than cotton or silk.
The automatic threader was also very helpful. Kids these days want everything fast and with this feature, prepping the machine to get it ready for sewing would be a little faster so my little angel would never lose interest. I guess I’ll teach her the boring techniques of sewing a little later.
Barely Understandable Instructions
The instruction manual that came with the sewing machine barely made any sense. The illustrations were also horrific. Thankfully, the XL2600I wasn’t that hard to use. It was relatively easy to figure out what went where and how the machine functions. However for newcomers to the sewing world, you may need to refer to a the online manual that is on the official site to get a better picture.
The XL2600I serves its purpose as a good beginner sewing machine. Unless you plan to use this sewing machine for occasional patch work and simple projects, you’ll outgrow it fast. Someone with more experience and a larger budget may opt for something better with more features so you’ll be able to get more out of your sewing machine. It’s a good sewing machine for kids though, so if you’re getting one for yours, catch the discount for Brother XL2600I here.

My buddy Martha has a small boutique that does a lot of embroidery for their customers. She loved her Brother SE400 so much that she recommended I take her sewing machine home and try it out for myself. It turns out that this is the best embroidery sewing machine I’ve ever tried.
As usual, I started off by examining the exterior, this was a well built sewing machine. Martha said that she had been using it almost everyday for almost a year and still it looked relatively new. The sewing machine was kind of heavy but I still managed to carry it around the house.
Good Sewing Functions
I was then itching for a trial run. It was already threaded and ready for sewing so I grabbed my fabric and tried out a few stitch patterns. I used the LCD screen to select one of the 67-built in sewing stitches. It was remarkable how the LCD display information about each of the sewing stitches accurately. I am certain that the regular user or a master seamstress could easily use these stitches for everything that ranges from big projects to mending jobs.
The one click thread cutter also made things a lot faster. I no longer have to manually cut the thread of my top bobbin manually. It may appear to be a minor improvement but for those who have to constantly work with sewing machines, it is a big improvement.
Works on Thick Fabrics
Next, I scrolled through the embroidery stitches. I really wanted to see if the sewing machine could handle thick fabric. I selected a design then tried on a piece of leftover denim fabric I had lying around. Amazingly, the motor had no problem at all handling thicker fabric and the embroidered design came out perfectly. There were more than 100 patterns that I could choose from, I also noticed that I could even transfer patterns from my laptop using the USB cable that was supplied.
Thanks to Brother’s own signature software, you’ll be able to create your own embroidery designs much more quickly. When paired with the Brother SE400, your designs will materialize. This takes creativity to a whole new high. I’m not that good in designing so thanks to this software, I was also able to transfer designs that I got off the Internet. From experience, the site iBroidery had a lot of nice designs to choose from and all the designs I choose was easily transferred to the SE400.
A Long Term Sewing Machine
Both the 25 years warranty and the promise that the Brother SE400 will continue to receive future software updates makes this embroidery sewing machine an excellent decision if you plan to use it as your sewing machine in the long run. The automatic needle threader and the easy bobbin preparation also helps the machine stay in good shape.
The easy operation would also ensure you don’t accidentally cause your sewing machine to malfunction if you’re a beginner. The online manual was more than helpful when I looked it up.
The Brother SE400 is a pretty neat machine that gives you the best embroidery features to work with so you’ll be able to let your creativity on the loose. You will also be able to transfer embroidery designs from your computer and periodically update the machines software. So in my books the Brother SE400 is a stellar deal. You can find it at a lower price here on Amazon.
You might also want to look at more sewing machines before you decide.
The Brother ES2000 is a simple computerized sewing machine that comes at an affordable price. In fact, it is the best computerized sewing machine you could get at this cheap price.
Taking into account that most computerized sewing machines cost around $250, Brother played their cards right by pricing this model at a sub $200 price point which makes it one of the cheaper models of computerized sewing machines on the market.
Packs A Punch
The Brother ES2000 is a stellar sewing machine. It has 37 different stitches and 77 built-in stitch functions that will surely be ideal for anyone who wants to pick up sewing as a hobby.
Sadly if you’re looking to try out quilting and embroidery, skip this machine because the Brother ES2000 has no quilting and embroidery sewing settings. If you would like to try your hand at some quilting, you can look at the Brother CS6000I which is similar to this sewing machine but with extra quilting accessories.
User Friendly Manual
The manual is like a bible. Without a proper manual you’re bound to screw up big time. Thankfully this sewing machine came with a well designed manual. Not only does it have diagrams for threading, the instructions were printed on the sewing machine for easy reference. I’m sure a beginner could operate the Brother ES2000 by just referring to those diagrams.
With the right needle and presser foot you can even attempt tougher fabrics like denim with this sewing machine. Although light weight this machine is able to do denim work but I would recommend heavier sewing machines if you need to do thick fabrics often.
Paired together with quality components, despite being restricted by the type of sewing this machine will be able to perform, the Brother ES2000 is still a great bargain. So if you don’t mind not being able to sew quilt and perform embroidery, this cheap sewing machine is worth taking a look at.
